Cozy New Year's Eve
I’m on the couch in my cozy jammies with Emma, a glass of wine and I’m watching The Muppets Take Manhattan. I think I’ve seen this but it’s been a long, long time.

Who says TV anchors have no moves? | HeadCandy →
“WGN-TV weekend anchors Robert Jordan and Jackie Bange do a little dance number each Saturday and Sunday night during their telecast’s first commercial break. Word is that it started out as a short 10-second dance, but now they have choreographed it into the full 2:40 of the break.
After viewing this, the question is: Why bother with the news?” (Source - click link)

A World Apart - Daniel Merriman
I scanned in this page from my 2008 calendar. It’s 1996 watercolor by Daniel Merriman. I didn’t pay much attention to the calendar when I had it up. My link up there didn’t work, so here it is: http://www.danielmerriam.com/

This is my PhD alma mater. I’m posting this mainly because the author of this book on weight and health is named Linda Bacon. Heh.
I should say it sounds like an interesting read, though.

“If I thought I had to say it better than anybody else, I’d never start. Better or worse is immaterial. The thing is that it has to be said, by me. We each have to say it, to say it in our own way. Not of our own will, but as it comes out through us. Good or bad, great or little: that isn’t what human creation is about. It is that we have to try.”

Ice, Ice, Baby!
I could use incurable’s brand new ice skates about now. The freezing rain started about 7:30 pm and it’s a sheet of ice out there.
I have to drive home to Illinois tomorrow (2 hours west of Chicago), where my mom says it’s snowing tons. They had 4-6 inches today and expect the same tomorrow. If I still lived in California, I’d be delayed there (I would fly into...

I vote cinnamon, but only because I like it better.
Definitely NUTMEG. I was just too late. I don’t know why Meg didn’t cast her vote for nutMeg. It’s almost like voting for herself!
No! It’s like voting for my CRAZY self.

Winter's Solstice (Yule)
I’ve always been fascinated with the history of Christmas and the fact that most of the Christmas traditions have pagan origins.

Yule, (pronounced EWE-elle) is when the dark half of the year relinquishes to the light half. Starting the next morning at sunrise, the sun climbs just a little higher and stays a little longer in the sky...

A Christmas Carol
I have the book (and have only read it once. I need to read it again), but I do love the movies as well. I’m currently watching the 1952 version, Scrooge with Alistair Sim. My favorite version, however, is the 1970 musical version, also titled Scrooge with Albert Finney. I only have it on VHS at the moment but it will be on TCM following the Sim version I’m watching now. I love how...
