I was born in 1968. My sister was born in 1966. My Catholic mom took birth control pills. In her words, “Your dad worked third shift and when we were allowed to do it on the rhythm method, he was too tired. This was easier.”

My sister credits/blames herself for me existence. She claims she ate one of my mom’s birth control pills and I am here as a result.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.
