Brain parasites carried by cats are causing people to post cat memes on the internet, thereby making it more likely that people will find cats adorable and adopt them, giving the parasite a chance to reproduce with a fresh crop of uninfected hosts.

Us - 0

Toxoplasma is a definite problem for pregnant women (specifically the fetus) and immunosuppressed people (and dogs and cats) but I think a functioning immune system would clear it from most people who came into contact with it. 

This is my gut opinion without having read the article. I need to read it more in depth.
