Though today largely forgotten, upstaged by Disney starlets and Bratz dolls, Pippi Longstocking once was a megastar for children. Her first book came out in 1945 (by Astrid Lindgren — thanks Sweden!) and she was an instant hit. Pippi eventually had a tv series, movie, a few tv specials, and even a Soviet made-for-tv movie. Pippi was notable for her superhuman strength and living by herself in a huge house.

never 4get

I don’t know if Ikea was around then. Her monkey (new world btw) may have been deprived of its Ikea outing.

Pippi will always have a special place in my heart. They even nicknamed me after her when I was kid. I still remember...

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.
