For Amusement Only: the life and death of the American arcade - The Verge
Kind of makes you nostalgic for a part of an era that you recognize but never had any participation in, doesn’t it?

Long read, but pretty interesting…..and yes, I spent far too many hours wasting quarters in arcades; these days, the quarters are accumulated into lump sums for games like Battlefield with which to waste my time.

I spent many hours in a dark, noisy arcade called Time Out. In the 80s, everyone had a game they were good at. Mine was Galaga.

Defender and Galaga. Remember Tempest?
Wreck it Ralph reminded me of all that time spent in arcades.

I need to see Wreck It Ralph. also, go read Ready Player One.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.
