My mom had given me the three of these ornaments (one green, one red, one white). They had been on our tree since I can remember. She bought them at a store in the Twin Cities when my sister was a baby and I was womb-bound (which means they are 44 years old). They were 15 cents for three of them and were made in Hong Kong.
She took a couple back with her (one for her for the time being and one for my sister - which I should have thought of earlier).
When I go home to Illinois to see my family, I’ll occasionally drive by the house I lived in from the ages of 5 to 17. When we moved in, it was white. My mom and dad had the yellow siding put on. The written house numbers and eagle were something we had put on. We also had a porch swing (they don’t).
I loved this house.
I never really thought of it as a place to watch movies. Also that movie is 20 years old. Where has the time gone? For some reason, 1990 doesn’t feel like it was that long ago (that’s the year I got my BS and started vet school).
I was looking through some pics I had scanned and saw this. My Grandpa died when I was 6 (in 1974). I never knew my Grandma (his wife - she died right before my mom graduated from high school).
I think I was 4 or 5 here (I’m the goofball on the left). That’s my sister on the right. He made us this little cupboard and my sister still has it.
I found this picture of Emma from Aug/Sept of 2008.
I moved to Ohio in August 2008 and first lived in an apartment. When I was unpacking, I laid some of the papers on the floor and Emma decided that was a great place to lay down.
Opus - Life is life
The only time I have ever traveled overseas was in 1984 when I went to Germany with my German teacher and members of my German class. I heard this song again and again and again. I even bought a cassette of theirs with it on it, but it wore out.
