Rose hips are full of Vitamin C, and have a nice citrusy taste. Some people make tea out of them, and others make jelly. I’ve often eaten wild rose hips right off the bush, spitting out the weird fuzzy seeds. Not anymore.
A couple of weeks ago I figured I’d be gourmet and take the seeds out of the rose hip first. So I split it open with my thumbnail, and spotted this wiggly orange worm. I opened a few more rose hips, and they ALL had worms. Which means I’ve surely eaten several of them.
Moral of the story - don’t eat rose hips.
(I’m sorry you may have eaten an unanticipated source of protein (really), but I wonder what function the little goobers have in there?)
